Dear Grey's Exchange Author ...
Jun. 22nd, 2009 05:36 pmDear Grey's Exchange Author,
My three picks are Derek/Addison, Mark/Addison and a gen fic with Addison, Meredith and Alex. Obviously, I love Addison, She's my absolute favorite (although, if I had my choice, I do prefer Grey's Addison over PrP Addison). I love how she can be so tough and so fearless at times, and how she tries so hard to always do the right thing (even when she doesn't), but yet, when she actually lets her guard down, she's a lot sweeter and vulnerable than she appears, and a little insecure at times too. Those are the times I love her best, even though she is awesome at being bitchy when she wants to be.
As for fic preferences, I'm not too picky. I usually lean toward angst, or at least some conflict. I don't mind fluff, but I like it to feel somewhat real. Not too fairy tale-ish. But mostly, as long as Addison is in it, I'm happy!
Addie/Derek
I've always loved them. I think some of it is because since she's my favorite, I want her to be happy, and I think she really, really loves him. But I also just love what they bring out in each other. I think they are more real with each other than with anyone else. He's never McDreamy around her (which is good, because I'm not a big fan of McDreamy), but he's more complex. She knows him better than anyone, and I think he knows her that way too. They have this huge past in common, and I think when they're not ready to kill each other, that they have a lot of potential.
Addie/Mark
I have a hard time, sometimes, with Addie/Mark in canon, because it's like from episode to episode it changes from whether at one time they really loved each other to whether the whole thing was just them using each other. And I don't think that she loves him the way she loves Derek, but I think they do love each other. I think they bring out the worst in each other sometimes, but I also think they get each other. They are both lost and self-destructive and don't really think they deserve to be happy. But that said, I think she's the girl that Mark can be a good guy for, and I think he could give her what she needs if she would ever just let him.
Addison, Meredith, Alex
This is a little random, but I've never NOT liked Meredith, and I've always thought if things didn't happen the way they did that Meredith and Addison would be friends. In a lot of ways, yes, they are complete opposites, but I've also always thought that in a lot of ways that count they are a lot alike. They both had parents who ignored them/left them/used them. I think they both struggled to fit in. And I think they both are afraid of getting hurt again; they just react to it differently — Meredith pushes people away when they get too close while Addie either gets clingy so they won't leave her or she runs. I also really, really love the Alex and Mer friendship. As well as Addison and Alex. At one point, I liked Addie and Alex as a couple, but now I like them better as friends. I think all three of them could probably understand each other more than a lot of other people do.
I hope this helped a little! Thanks so much for writing this for me! I can't wait to read it!
